The institute was started in 1965 as part of the Episcopal Silver Jubilee celebrations of the late Dr. Yuhanon Marthoma Metropolitan and Dr. Mathews Mar Athanasios Episcopa to train young men and women dedicated to the mission of the gospel. Over the past 59 years, hundreds of students have been trained and given to the church for the evangelistic work. They serve through the church, the evangelistic preaching group, dioceses and other churches. Some of the students serve as priests in various churches including the Marthoma Church.
This institution, which was established to train evangelists in Hindi language with a view to evangelism in North India, has been in existence for 34 years. During this period, many youth have been trained as evangelists and some are now serving in the evangelistic field of the Mar Thoma Church as pattakaars.
Easow Mar Timotheos Memorial Evangelist Training Institute is an organization established in 1991 in the name of the blessed memory of Easow Mar Timotheos Thirumeni and embodying his great evangelistic vision.
